Music & Arts Festival in Marlborough, Wiltshire, coming in 2024.

3 Days - Multiple Venues - Music - Food & Drink - Spoken Word - Community

We’ve Been Busy!

In the past few months we’ve been working away in the background, getting things up and running.

Just to update you, we have decided to move the main 3-day festival to 2024 - to give us time to produce the event that we, and hopefully you (Marlborough & beyond!) will truly want to see.

But not to worry!

In the meantime we ARE planning a 1-day event in 2023, which we think you’ll love too, & it will certainly be a taste of things to come… Follow us on Instagram for updates.

MARLBOROUGH FESTIVAL LAUNCH

We would also like to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you for all of  your support so far!

Particularly those who came along to the launch event last July.

It was a fantastic night, with some great feedback, and great ideas to boot!

Finally, a special thanks to Hamptons, who sponsored the whole event.

After a musical hiatus, Marlborough Festival 2024 is bringing the buzz back.

In 2024, festival lovers in Marlborough can wander freely to the sweet, sweet sounds of music everywhere!

Marlborough Festival will feature numerous stages, multiple acts, and non-stop activities over a three-day weekend in July 2024.

Past festivals in Marlborough have focused heavily on Jazz, and fostering acts that came back year after year. While that’s a tradition we are proud to maintain, the focus for Marlborough Festival 2024 will be broader in its musical offering.

We’ll keep the the N‘Orleans buzz seeping out of bars and alleyways, but visitors can also expect the crackle of newer acts, some from right here in Wiltshire. This Festival is all about showcasing the very best that Marlborough, Wiltshire and the South West have to offer. Not just in music!

It will feature a programme of:

  • Talks, panels and guest speakers - big ideas about Music, the Arts and the Environment;

  • Food, Drink and some well-known chefs;

  • Walks revealing the town’s hidden mysteries;

  • Live-streamed shows.

A big part of Marlborough Festival 2024 is making people feel included. With community involvement, this means:

  • Industry support for aspiring musicians;

  • Work placements for students;

  • Extra access for the aged;

  • Arts and theatre projects with schools.

  • Recognition for food producers, growers, and breeders.

Here’s to 2024: the year Marlborough gets back into the groove..

Luckily, lots of people are behind it.

It seems obvious, but a community Music & Arts festival needs the backing of the community. We’ve been able to count on the support of shopkeepers, landlords, restaurateurs, town councillors, you name it! Meet some of them here:

History

The historic market town of Marlborough is known for the surrounding chalk downs, independent shops and a super-wide High Street. Merlin is said to be buried here; William the Conqueror built a castle here, and 800 years ago King John gave Marlborough a market charter, setting it up for prosperity. Historically at least, Marlborough is well and truly on the map. It even gets several column inches in the Domesday Book.

Mind you, it hasn’t always been easy.

  • King Charles had it looted in 1642, because he didn’t like “the obstinacy and malice of the inhabitants”.

  • The Great Fire of Marlborough in 1653 burnt 244 houses to the ground.

  • And in 2004 it was visited by Prince Charles (joke).

“Each year the exquisite market town of Marlborough becomes a mini New Orleans ”
